FROM MSANGU SEEDS TO UPCYCLED CHIBUKU CARTONS, THEY’RE TURNING IDEAS INTO IMPACT!
Our Area Conservation Coordinator in Karonga, Henry Nyirenda, engaged inspiring young minds of the Kologwa Youth Club in T/A Wasambo (Kologwa Village) for a hands-on Tree Nursery Establishment activity.
A dedicated group of 12 local youths proved that a lack of fancy equipment is no barrier to restoring our nature and the environment. Demonstrating incredible resourcefulness, the team turned to nature and went upcycling to get their nursery off the ground. They gathered Msangu seeds directly from indigenous trees growing naturally in the area and repurposed empty Chibuku cartons to house the growing seedlings.
Seeing local youth take ownership of land restoration using locally available resources is exactly what grassroots conservation is all about.
