Tamani Youth Network Encouraged to Participate in Environmental Conservation Initiatives in Phalombe District.

A sensitization and engagement meeting on environmental conservation initiatives and youth participation in projects was recently conducted with Tamani Youth Network under Traditional Authority Jenala in Phalombe District.

The meeting was facilitated by Our Area Conservation Coordinator, Dalitso Mathiya, and brought together members of Tamani Youth Network, which comprises of six youth clubs from the area. The youths warmly welcomed the engagement and expressed their willingness to actively participate in environmental conservation activities and community-based projects.

Discussions focused on the importance of environmental conservation and the critical role that young people can play in protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable development within their communities. Participants were encouraged to take an active role in conservation initiatives and to work collectively in implementing projects that contribute to environmental protection and community resilience.

During the meeting, members also highlighted the potential use of a building owned by the Youth Network as a centre for youth empowerment activities. They discussed engaging relevant stakeholders to provide technical and vocational training in areas such as phone repairing, tailoring, carpentry, and building, with the aim of equipping young people with practical skills and improving livelihood opportunities.

The meeting reflected the enthusiasm and readiness of Tamani Youth Network to contribute to environmental conservation initiatives while strengthening youth participation in development projects across the area.
